The Music Was Hot At Hyde Rotary's Cajun Event
Despite the beast from the east, the local community and Hyde Rotarians were treated to fabulous feast of hot Cajun music -that punchy, dancer friendly genre from South Louisiana last Sunday afternoon when they held their Cajun event at The Oaklands Hall Hyde.
The opening performance saw The Prohibition Swing Club -who set the hall rocking by playing swing music from the 1920s,30s and 40s in the nostalgic style of a Western swing band, before moving onto the top of the bill The Ragin Cajuns (Pictured)
performed the authentic ,emblematic Cajun music ,born in the Deep South of Louisiana.
The event was organised by Rotarian and International and Foundation Chair Maureen Clayton and all profits £1,001.00 from the musical extravaganza going to Maureens International charity The Winnie Mabaso Foundation in Africa.
Following the event Maureen said it took a while to bring the musicians back together again, they came from all over the UK and France. But based upon the audience reaction it has all been worth it.
The tickets for the event sold out two weeks before the date and we played to a capacity crowd.
I would like to thank my team of Rotarians for their help at the event and of course Nick at the Oaklands for allowing us to use the Oaklands facilities.
