19 Rotarians from our district D1285 attended the National Immunization Day [NID] in India last month. The aim was minimise the risk of the Polio virus coming and re-infecting a Polio Free India, by immunising 173 million children under five years old.
Mike Yates, of New Mills and District Rotary Club, is the RotaryGBI national co-ordinator for the National Immunisation Day.
Here is a link to a newspaper article about one of the Rotarians who went, Karen Wroe from Altrincham Rotary Club.
Whilst in India, they took the opportunity to visit Rotary funded projects such as a limb centre, a polio hospital and a blood bank.
