In partnership with the Greater Manchester Fire Service, members of the Bolton Daybreak Rotary Club have been making house calls to check on fire risks, giving householders advice and fitting smoke alarms free of charge. This week saw the 1000th visit when the team knocked on the door of Mrs Yvonne Valentine in Egerton. Mrs Valentine was delighted with the visit. She said Its very important that people should learn about fire risks. I am pleased with the visit today and have learned something new not to try to escape through our bathroom window, but to stay put, close the door against the fire and phone the fire brigade. She was also pleased with the new smoke alarms fitted by the team.
Anyone who would like a visit from the team can call 0800 555 815. The Daybreak team is active across Bolton Metropolitan Borough.
