Members of the Rotary Club of Astley were once again out in force in the lead up to Christmas. Club members and volunteers from other local groups went out with the Club's Christmas Float and Santa Claus onto the estates of Astley for eight evenings, as well as spending three weekends at the Lancashire Mining Museum and the Tesco and Sainsburys supermarkets in Leigh.
As always, the Club's Float and Santa were well received by local youngsters. The Club wishes to thank the generosity of local people in donating a record £3,800 to the Club's collection boxes, which will enable the Club to continue its sterling work in supporting groups, charities and other worthwhile causes, both locally and internationally.
During the past 12 months, the Rotary Club of Astley has supported a range of causes, including the beer festival with Leigh Miners' Rangers, sending children to Petty Pool, redeveloping Lancashire Mining Museum, supporting local girls to compete in national sports events and many more.
