Every year, before Santa arrives in Biddulph at the Christmas lights switch-on, Rotary asks local shops and businesses for a donation to sponsor Santa's tour of the town to delight the children. The money is used to cover the costs of running the sleigh so that all the money collected by Santa during his tours of the town, which this year will amount to over £6000, can go to local charities supported by Rotary.

This year there has been a good response from local businesses with 23 donors giving a total of over £1000, and Santa has thanked them by presenting a Christmas hamper to the winners of a draw between them.
The winner of the draw this year was Mc Gough & Sons Funeral Directors, and the hamper was presented to Allan Pyatt by Santa.

President of Rotary, Martin Gravestock, would like to thank Wetherspoons and Sainsbury's for hosting the sleigh in the town centre and he also expressed his gratitude to the other organisations: Inner Wheel, Burndred - CRY, Knypersley Cricket Club, The Zone, The Biddulph Youth Orchestra, Biddulph Moor First Responders, Biddulph Life Line, 'Our Lady of Grace' school and the 'Friends of Rotary': who gave their time and effort to help Rotary bring Santa and his sleigh to the children of Biddulph. In particular, on behalf of Rotary, he would like to thank the people of Biddulph for their generousity in contributing to the local charities that are supported by Rotary.
