The Rotary Club of Stockport Lamplighter recently held their annual Christmas party for over a hundred guests from a variety of groups in the Stockport area.
Organised by Rotarian Tricia Canning the day was a huge success.
Guests were collected by Lamplighters and taken to Heaton Mersey Community Hall where they were entertained by a group of children from the Christ with All Saints Music School whom Lamplighter supports. Guests joined in the Carol singing with this lively group of youngsters.
Rotarian Bernice Giblin then offered up a modern rendition of The Twelve Days Of Christmas which the audience found most entertaining.
After a delicious afternoon tea prepared by the Candle Snuffers, Santa arrived to distribute raffle prizes and small plants to the assembled throng.
Despite the snow outside the hall, all those inside then enjoyed a thoroughly heart warming selection of songs from the shows performed by Pat and Mary of the duo The Two Of Us who had the guests up dancing, many of them for the first time in years.
This annual party shows how Rotary is able to get out into the Community and make a difference to peoples lives, especially those who live alone or are suffering with forms of dementia.
Planning for next years event has already begun and Lamplighters wish one and all a Happy Christmas and a Healthy 2018
