The condition of the 'Garden of Tranquility' and the 'Bateman Walk', which Biddulph Rotary has undertaken to maintain, had suffered badly from the recent storms and the passage of time. With the aid of a generous grant from Biddulph Town Council, Rotary have been able to obtain the materials necessary to repair the damage and to restore the 'Walk' to its original state.
As part of its community work, Rotary is again helping to maintain the gardens, so during recent weekends, groups of Biddulph Rotarians have been doing work in the gardens and Bateman Walk. This has involved clearing the pathway, which had been almost completely buried in earth, and restoring the wooden barrier wall alongside the walkway.
Using funds made available by Biddulph Council, the wood required has been purchased and groups of Rotarians have worked to construct the necessary barriers, so that the Bateman Walk can once again be returned to its original condition.
