Recently 37 members and friends of Stockport Lamplighter attended a fund raising evening at the Spice Tower Indian restaurant in Offerton.
They were served a delicious meal starting with popadoms and various chutneys followed by an interesting starter of meat and vegetarian specialities. They were then indulged with three main courses consisting of a chicken dish, lamb dish and a vegetarian dish.
During the course of the evening they were happy to take part in a free raffle with many prizes of wine and chocolates.
At the end of the meal Liz Sears, a trustee of the Norwood Trust where Lamplighter has recently been doing a hands on decorating project, was handed a cheque for £250.00 towards light fittings and their installation by Tony Ashurst, Chair of the Community Committee.
The Manager of the restaurant then presented Lamplighter President Linda with a cheque for Rotary Charities for almost £350.00 as a donation from the Spice Tower
This was a great evening showcasing how closely Lamplighters work with the local community and businesses.
