Bolton Lever Rotary club organised it's Diwali celebration to raise funds for the International charities it supports. The event was held at Triangle Methodist Church, Chorley Old Road, Bolton. This was a sell out event with many disappointed potential guests having been too late to book!
Some of you may already have heard on other media platforms that it was a Grand success! The ladies were dressed in Saree with a little help from our club lady members and the men had an option of trying out some ethnic tunics!
The event began with President Ravi Mene welcoming the guests. Chair of the International committee Rtn Aruna Mene introduced the guests to significance of Diwali & one of the International project which our club has undertaken to sponsor education of a Healthcare worker to promote health education and prevention in slums of Pune, India.
Rtn Swati Mukherjee updated about the other projects the club is involved in; the Big one being 'Feed the Hunger' meal packing on 14th April 2018 , this event is being sponsored by Bolton Lever Club and we are planning to pack 50K meals at a convenient venue in Bolton.
The other projects being supported are Bangladesh Eye hospital and Lend with care.
After induction of 3 new members, the classic entertainment for the evening was performed by Miss Tanvi Sapre a local dentist who presented some excellent Bharat Natyam dance pieces, Rtn Dilip Gore thrilled the audience with his excellent performance on mouth organ, and Mrs Manju Acharya performed classical Kathak dance pieces. The guests were treated to delicious vegetarian meal and the evening concluded with a Raffle and an enjoyable game of 'Heads & Tails' which involved a GK quiz.
The programme was enjoyed by all those present.
Our next fund raiser is on 28 February 2018, book your tickets to avoid disappointment!!
Here are some pictorial glimpses of the evening, showing ladies in lovely sarees and men in tunics.
