The 18th Horwich Beer Festival Organised by the Rotary Club of Horwich Raises £60,000+ in last 5 years
Our Beer Festival ( horwichbeerfestival.co.uk) has now become part of the Horwich tradition.
Starting out some 18 years ago, the first few years were a struggle to get the event established. However the event has grown and grown and in just the last 5 years has raised more than £60,000 to fund local, national and international projects.
In 2017, we again offered a wide range of beers, lagers and ciders as well as by popular request, the much-appreciated Prosecco bar.
Our thanks to those local businesses and individuals who sponsored the event again this year and the many volunteers who have supported and helped our hard-working Beer Festival committee.
Our 85 sponsors enjoyed a magnificent buffet ( prepared by the staff at our host venue, the Horwich RMI club ) and free drinks on Thursday evening before the local mayor pronounced the event open to the public.
For more than 70 years Horwich Rotary Club has been an extremely proactive organisation that supports local, national and international projects.
We have a vibrant Rotary web site and Facebook page that show the community how we focus locally on the needs of young people to improve the quality of their health, sporting, cultural and social needs. Whilst internationally we help people in more impoverished parts of the world to enable children to have clean water, food, education, health care and strengthen local economies.
With our help, Rotary International in collaboration with the Bill Gates Foundation has now come within a hairs breath of abolishing polio across the world.
The 2017 event saw yet another record turnout and we entertained 200+ Middlesborough football fans on Saturday morning en route to their match v Bolton. ( Unfortunately Bolton lost 2:0!! ) We are a small town but the community really supports this event and we hope that continues for many years to come.
