A Trust has been established by Rotary District 1285, which includes the city of Manchester and surrounding areas, following the bomb attack at the Manchester Arena on 22nd May.
The Manchester Arena Families Trust aims to provide practical help to the victims and families of those killed or injured by the attack.
This may include supplying transport to families needing to visit victims in hospital and similar practical support.
This support could extend to people indirectly affected, be it physically in the immediate aftermath while escaping the vicinity, or mentally as a result of trauma suffered which may require treatment, at the discretion of the trustees.
Donations can be made in the following ways:
By bank transfer
Account: The Royal Bank of Scotland District 1285
Account no: 41472760
Sort code: 16-00-18
Reference: Organisation name and the letters MAF
By cheque
Cheques should be made payable to Rotary District 1285 and clearly endorsed with the letters MAF on the reverse, along with the name of the club, district or organisation making the donation.
An accompanying letter with contact details of whom receipts can be sent should also be included.
Cheques should be posted to Rotary Support Centre, Kinwarton Road, Alcester, B49 6PB
Any queries should be sent to District Treasurer Roger Glew.
More precise terms are currently being drawn up, however due to the severity of the attack the establishment of the trust has been a priority.
A number of Rotarians in the city, including District Governor Stan Bowes, were in attendance at a vigil in the city and Rotary clubs in the area have already played a part in community support.
