Stockport Lamplighter recently held a Ladies Lunch at the Alma Lodge Hotel to celebrate the life of one of their founder members Ernie Spencer , whilst at the same time raising much needed funds for the charity that supported him during his long illness "Kidneys for Life "
136 ladies, including Ernie's wife, daughter in law and grand daughters, had a fun filled afternoon after listening to a humorous talk by Lamplighters own Nan Ironside entitled "Memories"
Dinner suited men from the club gently (!) cajoled the guests into buying large amounts of raffle tickets which helped lift the total amount raised to just over £1,500
Ernie was a most enthusiastic member of the club and would have been delighted with this generous donation which will be presented to " Kidneys for Life " at a club meeting in April.
