The Rotary club of Macclesfield Castle members and associates recently successfully completed a highways course which allows them to apply for and close roads for community events at any location.
This was funded by Macclesfield Town council and will enable local groups to run events in the Macclesfield town centre without the high cost of engaging the local highways authority.
Rotary member Alec Johnston explained that part of the Rotary mission was to help and support local events and communities and this had already been successful. We have two more events coming up soon, The Macclesfield Potato riots and the St Georges Day parade with much merrymaking in the Town Square.
