In order to support the International Women's Day Purple4Polio events, the Rotary Club of Eccles held a classy Afternoon Tea at George's Restaurant in Worsley on Friday 10th March. The event was organised by Past President Julie Larkinson and although primarily intended for local ladies did have a few brave male attendees.
The restaurant staff produced an elegant spread of small sandwiches, large fruit scones with jam and cream and dainty cakes, along with a selection of teas and coffees and many participants treated themselves to a glass of wine or fizz to accompany the collation.
Our special treat was a visit from Ryan Giggs (co-owner of the restaurant) who had supported the event from its inception.
After a raffle including prizes, many of which were donated by local businesses, the 50 guests left with "goody bags" to commemorate the event and we were delighted to find we had raised over £500 for "End Polio Now".
