Sarah Dennis, a professional entertainer for many years, began Lymm Rotary clubs annual Senior Citizens Party, held at the Statham Lodge Hotel, with a great show. She wowed the 157 invited guests with her vocal performance of hits from the musicals, opera, and timeless classics from her favourite divas such as Sinatra, Piaf, Bassey, Garland and Doris Day. With her pitch, clear voice and repartee Sarah kept the guests on the edge of their seats with her dazzling performance.
An afternoon tea, prepared and served by the ladies from the Inner Wheel club of Lymm, followed and allowed the audience to get their breath back before a group of five young brass musicians from Lymm High School entertained with a selection of music they thought the guests would enjoy, such as Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Colonel Bogey and Sweet Caroline. Also, they included a version of the Schneewazer, especially arranged for the party by trombonist, Robert Bates (year 13), and everyone joined in with the swaying and actions. The other members of the group were, Francesca Yates-Davies (year 13) on trumpet, Nina Virk (year 11} on cornet and Robert Reid (year 11) on French Horn.
The quartet, known as Quintessential, was formed by their brass teacher, Mr Wyss, who taught the students and arranged the programme.
As each happy guest departed they were given a colourful gift of a potted primrose.
