On Saturday 4th March Hyde Rotary Club unveiled their Defibrillator that is fixed to a wall at the side of the Well Pharmacy on Market Place in Hyde
Performing the ceremony The Civic Mayor of Tameside and Hyde Councillor Phillip Fitzpatrick said it's a pleasure to get involved with the Rotary Club in my home town. They have raised the money to purchase, and install this Defibrillator It is a vital life saving device that has now been installed in one of the busiest thoroughfare areas in Hyde.
Yousef Monef Interim Regional Manager Well Pharmacy who was also in attendance said at Well Pharmacy the health and wellbeing of our community is the key focus for the team here in Hyde, and were proud to be supporting the Rotary Clubs installation of a defibrillator in the town.
"Following the successful installation of the defibrillator outside Hyde Town Hall, we are keen to support The Rotary Clubs campaign to add a further device in an area, located outside our store. The defibrillator will be easily accessible to all members of the local community for use in an emergency situation.
"For those with an undetected heart condition, cardiac arrest is a real risk. A defibrillator can mean the difference between life and death, so Well Hyde is fully behind this important initiative.
Community Chair at the Rotary Club Barry Carey who has chaired the committee for the last three years said our club get involved in lots of community fundraising efforts throughout the year. It has taken two years to bring this project to fruition. We have had to negotiate with the Well Chemist and the Clarendon Centre We have now brought this life saving device to our streets we only hope it will never be used. Also in attendance during the day we would like to thank Geoff Holden from the ambulance service first responders who demonstrated how the equipment should be used in an emergency.
