Runcorn Rotary staged a local heat of Rotary Young Musician Competition in association with Yamaha
This was held at Grangeway Youth Hub with local Runcorn pupils entered through their secondary schools.
Beth Lewis from Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy playing the flute won the Instrumental section. She played Les Feuilles Mortes (Autumn Leaves) and variations from serenade k361 by Mozart.
Ben Mee from The Grange School sang Alire by Sia and Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson. He won the vocalist section and the overall prize which had been donated by Fountains Hotel, Runcorn.
Kirsty Walker The Grange School was second in the Vocalist section with Demica Regan of Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy third.
Judges were professional singer and Friend of Rotary Miss Louise Allen, Dr Damian McDermott and Runcorn Rotary President Karen Tonge MBE. The judges were all impressed with the standard and the support given by teachers, parents and Rotarians.
The 2 winners Ben and Beth now go forward to the District finals to be held at Danesford Community Centre, Congleton on 21st March.
The event was organised by Ken Tonge Runcorn Rotary Youth Organiser and is an Annual Event.
