2.4 billion people dont have somewhere safe, clean and hygienic to go to the loo. Thats more than a third of the people on the planet. Warrington Rotary is in the business of helping flush away poverty by twinning with a toilet in Kanyatsi, Rutshuru, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Officially designated Latrine 10809 the club helped fund it through money raised at their Oktoberfest 20.
Toilet Twinning helps to solve a serious problem and save lives and funds the work of the international relief and development agency Tearfund. The twinning will provide clean water, basic sanitation, and support hygiene education. This vital combination works together to prevent the spread of disease.
Children are healthier, and able to go to school; parents are well enough to work their land and grow enough food to feed their family giving more ability to earn a living.
