Pupils from Kettleshulme St James school clubbed together to make up 38 shoe boxes with toys, gifts and personal items for young neglected and abandoned children from the old communist areas in Eastern Europe.
The headmaster Mr Paul Quirk asked Rotarian Ken Newton from the Rotary club of Macclesfield Castle to enthuse the children to help with making up the shoe boxes and so bring some joy to these abandoned children. They and their parents set too with great enthusiasm.
Headteacher Paul Quirk said that he was very impressed with the support the children and their parents gave to making the collection and was astounded by the variety and extent of the boxes. Ken Newton thanked them all for their most generous support saying that these boxes would be sent to areas in Moldova and the Ukraine and he would return next year with a video showing children receiving the boxes.
