A pupil from Ash Grove Academy, Grace Bailey Rushton, age 8, has received a Thank You Card from The Queen in acknowledgement for the poem Grace wrote to celebrate The Queens 90th Birthday.
Rotary International of Great Britain and Ireland organised a national competition and arranged for the winning poems from each of the 26 Rotary Districts to be sent to the Queen. Graces poem won the local Macclesfield competition and also the District competition and was sent to The Queen.
The President of The Rotary Club of Macclesfield Castle, Mr Ray Kramer, said It is an honour for a pupil from Macclesfield to receive a Card from The Queen and we are delighted for Grace.
The Principal of Ash Grove Academy, Miss Heather Jackson, said "We would like to thank Rotary for their continued support and the opportunity to take part in the competition. The children enjoyed applying their creative skills to write their own poem for The Queen and we are thoroughly pleased for Grace that her poem was chosen .
