Rainhill Rotary raised a magnificent £4,442 to Support Ukraine by transforming its Christmas sleigh almost beyond recognition with an Easter Egg theme . apart from the reindeer who had Ukrainian flag blankets and Rudolph with have yellow and blue antlers and nose!
Following a business meeting last month, we agreed to support a design idea from Past President, Mike Gaffney to transform our Christmas float using the colours of Ukraine . blue and yellow.
Mike spent around 10 days working cutting out and lettering eggs, adding lettering to flags, amending signage on the A boards, creating eggs sitting in the painted baskets and much more.
Once we received the necessary permits we collected at St Helens supermarkets and in Rainhill village over the Easter period to show our support for the people of Ukraine.
We must thank Rocket Embroidery Ltd, St Helens who donated, printed and sponsored our Tee shirts.
The generosity of the local people cannot be overstated and these funds, together with our original donation of £6,000, will go a little way towards helping the Ukrainian refugees who are suffering more than we can imagine.
Our work will not stop here!
