A campaign which started in London more than 10 years ago and to-date has provided more than 180,000 donated winter coats nationally for those vulnerable and living on our street’s has once again been supported by Rotary Clubs across the UK. Locally, Rotary Cheadle Royal staged their own three week support during November at Tesco (Parrswood), Waitrose (Wilmslow) and at the Tytherington Golf Club which resulted in generous donations of 238 thick warm coats for adults and children.

Once the coats have been stored and quarantined at national SafeStore locations, free of charge, they are sorted and then distributed amongst various local charities including homeless shelters, women’s refuges and children’s centres. Such charities are best placed to identify the people most in need of a warm winter coat and those who have generously donated coats can be assured they will go to someone who really needs it.

Thousands of vulnerable people, young and old in crisis, living on the streets and in desperate need of support, will at least have the benefit of a warm coat this winter through the generosity of the good people of Cheshire. We once again send out our heartfelt thanks for the support they are providing for those less fortunate”.
