Rotary Club Bramhall & Woodford Rotary Club collaborated with Care4Calais, Manchester Council and local Rotary Clubs to host a Fun Day for the Afghan families living in a local hotel.
The smiles on the children's faces said it all. The entertainer was brilliant, the bubble man brought his bubble friend and the circus workshops were superb. There were lots of games, colouring, a parachute, mosaic crafts and face painting as well as henna tattoos.
Nine Rotary Clubs donated money and volunteers, all of whom were amazing and must have been exhausted at the end of a very long day as 100 children can get quite boisterous!
All of this was achieved with very few of the Mums or children speaking English and took place on 'Children In Need' day. A disco was the finale and the friendly DJ even played Afghani party music! Apparently, families in the other hotels now want a Fun Day as well!
