On Wednesday 18th August Tameside Rotary hosted it’s annual charity Golf Day at Werneth Low Golf Club to support Willow Wood Hospice.

Tameside Rotary Founder President and organiser Andy Williams said ‘The day has been really great. Wonderful camaraderie (it’s also my golf club) and only a light rain to keep us all cool! Most importantly we raised over £1500.00 for Willow Wood Hospice. Thanks also to Tameside Rotarian Les Smith who is co-organiser every year.’

President Angela said that she and her Rotary colleagues had received a very warm welcome from Werneth Low Golf Club and particularly President Gary Hollingworth and Captain Iain who were very charming and a lot of fun. The golf course itself has amazing views. Thanks also to all the players who supported the event. Also joining us for a few hours was Elaine McConnell from Willow Wood Hospice who explained the great work the hospice does and the sensitive and caring end of life care they can provide to anyone in need.

All the results can be found on the Werneth Low GC website, but a VERY close second to Alker’s Army was Globe Scaffolding.

President Angela’s husband and his friends had a team, but they stayed away from 1st place so that the competition wouldn’t look like fix�. That’s the story they tell anyway!!
