Beverley Bramwell along with her volunteers seen here, receiving the keys at the Official Opening of the Ramsbottom pantry from Frank Unsworth, President of Ramsbottom Rotary Club on the 27th July 2021.
During the Covid pandemic donations of food were distributed from the Christ Church Foyer to support the local community. However, in view of the demand for this support, Ramsbottom Rotary Club was approached for their help to establish a charity community food bank.
With fundraising support and sponsorship via Ramsbottom Rotary, it has been possible to undertake the required groundwork and provide an insulated storage container and a new portacabin equipped with a heating electrical supply and a commercial fridge and freezer unit. This has only been possible due to the generosity and continued support of Ramsbottom Rotary and associated sponsors.
Ramsbottom Rotary Club and sponsors have sourced equipment of some £20,000 for this project, to deliver food to over 50 families each week. In addition to opening with volunteer support three days per week for other individuals requiring food bank support.
Ramsbottom Rotary also provided an additional £1,000, including a Matching Grant of £500 from the Rotary District Foundation, to fund additional food supplies.
We are extremely proud to have worked with Beverley Bramwell and other Ramsbottom Pantry Volunteers to support our local community.
