Rotary Stockport Lamplighters recently held a Skills Auction in the garden of one of their members.
This was an innovative event for Lamplighters who had the idea after the success of their online Christmas craft shop. And boy, was it a success !
Two intrepid Lamplighters helped the day go with a swing....Philip Smith in his new role as Auctioneer and Bob Jordon in his usual role as entertainer.
Members offered a huge variety of their own skills, such as decorating, cake making, do it yourself etc and these were auctioned with speed, ease and hilarity by Philip.
Alongside this ran a Silent Auction with a variety of unwanted gifts finding new homes.
Bob sang between each session, a Wood Fired Pizza Oven on the front drive fed the 48 guests and the forecasted rain stayed away. Phew.
As well as being an Auction, this was the first Social event of the year, ably organised by the new Social Secretary Kevin Spiller, who only became a member during lockdown. And what a great first venture it was.
It was so good to meet up with everybody and to meet four of our brand new members in person.
At the end of a fabulous day almost £2,500 had been raised for Lamplighters Charity Fund, from members themselves
