The Rotary Club of Douglas held a Mini Parish Walk for Kids on Saturday 17th July 2021 at the Tynwald Fairfield and Arboretum at St Johns, Isle of Man.
The event was for children only, in 4 age groups:
Group A. 4 and 5 year olds. (were accompanied by an adult)
Group B. 6 and 7 year olds.
Group C. 8 and 9 year olds.
Group D. 10 and 11 year olds.
The walking distances were between approximately, 0.8K and 2K depending on the age group.
In all 284 children entered the fun walk and raised an estimated £30000 for 60 local charities.
It was a fabulous family day out and thoroughly enjoyed by all. The weather was great, although sometimes reaching a high of 27C made it tough walk for 10-11 yr olds.
Ivan Bratty Chairman of the Community Service Committee that organised the event said Big thanks must go out to all our sponsors and helpers but especially to all the parents for encouraging their kids to take part and to raise such an amazing sum of money for their own worthy causes.
