President Angela Robbins and Rotarian Manhar Taylor surprised Amanda Vance who is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner at Albion and also a Nurse Vaccinator and her husband Martyn Vance who is a Diagnostic Radiographer and is Deputy Manager in the MR scan unit with flowers, a thank you card and tins of biscuits for both of their work places so their colleagues can enjoy too.
They were so pleased as you can see from their faces. Anyone that knows Amanda knows her as a ray of sunshine, always brightening peoples day. They both recognised Rotarian Manhar who had been employed for 46 years at TGH as a theatre nurse.
Unbelievably, people have started to be quite rude and abusive to NHS workers again and seem to have forgotten the debt that we owe these local heroes. Tameside Rotary say well done and thank you!
Manhar said As a retired employee of TGH of 46 years I know there are difficult times occasionally but nothing like the last 18 months. We all know the NHS has been under more pressure now than ever before and it is people like Amanda and Martyn who have worked tirelessly to make sure that patients carried on receiving the treatment they needed and delivering the all important vaccine.
Rotarian Brian pointed out that the first NHS hospital ever is not far from us at Trafford General Hospital.
President Angela said How wonderful to celebrate NHS, Social Care & Frontline Workers Day every year now on the 5th July. Guess what we did before we left them. Clapped!!! They deserve it.
