Climate change is a hot topic, but what can we, as individuals do about it? With this theme in mind the Rotary Club of Manchester had a Zoom brainstorming and came up with 50 actions individual people can take to reduce their carbon footprint. We were not looking to tell the government what to do or how large companies can reduce their carbon footprint, but concentrated on personal activities.
The important point is that we looked at all the small things each of us can do according to our own inclinations. We do not have to adopt a Spartan life-style of cold showers and self-denial. Just a few modifications to how we live and go about our daily lives can, cumulatively make an impact. How effective all this is depends on many people doing their own little bit. Simply being aware of some of the things we can do often pushes us in the right direction.
The full list we produced is on our web site at www. Rotary Club of Manchester. Click on what we do and scroll down to Save the Planet. More ideas are welcome and you can send these by e-mail to Ernest Metcalfe at rtry1242@btinternet.com
