Newton-le-Willows Rotary Club members were delighted that Santa took the time to contact President Len Rainford to confirm that he was safe and well and would be joining us to tour Lowton, Golborne, Newton, and Burtonwood as usual.
Len said, That was the best news. It put the Merry back into Christmas! After such a challenging year for all of us, it was great to know that Santa would be on his sleigh, waving to everyone.
Organiser Rotarian Ian Parr had a lot to do, arranging a socially distanced round as well as a JustGiving page for online donations and special text number for donations by phone.
So come December, Rotarians were out in the evening with festive hats and big smiles enjoying seeing how excited the local children and their families were to see us.
Ian said, Over 12 great nights, Rotarians walked 50 miles with Santas float thats 72 volunteering sessions and 144 enjoyable hours in the local community. We lost count of the smiling faces we saw on route, both young and old. Everyone looks forward to our annual Christmas float.
