Wigan Rotary Club are well known throughout the town for accompanying Santa around the streets and to supermarkets during December, but due to current restrictions it has, regrettably, had to put its usual activities on ice. However, the Club came up with a contact free way for the children still to be able to tell Santa what is on their Christmas list and children in the town have been able to Zoom with Santa. Due to the success of the enterprise all the bookings were taken and over £2000 raised. This will be donated by Wigan Rotary Club back into the Wigan community over the coming months.
As Santa was busy with his reindeer, Mrs Christmas recently made a visit to Wigan to check all was ready for the big day and she allowed us to photograph her at various landmarks in the town.
So as a thank you to the Wigan community for their generosity and support, the Rotary Club is running a competition on its Facebook page. During the twelve days of Christmas a different photo has started to appear of Mother Christmas somewhere in Wigan and the competition each day is to guess where she is. To join in, please visit Wigan Rotary Facebook Page.
The Club is delighted to say that the competition is very kindly sponsored by Uncle Joes and the winner each day will receive a prize of a selection of bags of Uncle Joes sweets.
Rotary President Rosemary Charles said We are very grateful for all the donations we have received, and we hope the competition will be enjoyable. We would also like to thank Uncle Joes for their very kind donation of the prizes for each day and also Tesco, Mrs. Macs and FM Fragrances for additional one off prizes.
William Santus Ltd. joint Managing Directors, John and Ant Winnard said; We are delighted to be supporting Wigan Rotary Clubs fundraising campaign. The pandemic has required us all to find new ways of working and the Zoom calls with Father Christmas have been a great way for people to support Wigan Rotary Club and raise much needed funds to enable them to continue their vital work in the local community. We hope that everyone enjoys the Find Mother Christmas Competition and good luck to all those taking part. We hope you enjoy the prizes from Uncle Joes
