Because of the ‘Covid’ restrictions Rotary’s normal Santa arrival in the town has not been possible, but to avoid disappointing the children alternative arrangements have been made. On weekday evenings Santa in his sleigh have been able to tour the town slowly, but with no stops to allow the children to talk to Santa.

For children who would like to see Santa in the more usual way, Rotarian Rob Lomas has arranged for the sleigh to be stationary at Glebe Farm at Astbury on Saturdays and Sundays in December, between 11am and 3.0 pm, when children are able to talk to Santa. Since the sleigh is in the open air, social distancing can be maintained. This arrangement is in line with the Covid rules and has worked very well during last weekend. Although the Sleigh is in the open air, it has been under cover, so despite the weather, the attraction has been so popular that Santa has had to work overtime to see all the children .

In previous years children have been able to see Santa in Sainsbury’s Car Park in Biddulph centre, but this won’t be possible this year. However the Council have stepped in to help and have decorated the bus hub / Bus station as Santa’s grotto, and Santa will be there on 21/22/23 December – (times are to be confirmed, but are likely be from 11am till 3pm).
