As the very popular Christmas Float was unable to take to the streets this year, a local resident asked if she could help finances by adding a Rotary Advent calendar to the side wall of her house. Within hours of her plea for sponsorship she had nine businesses offering to help. So each morning one of the windows is opened to reveal the sponsors name.
It only took a week for all twenty four windows to be sponsored, with some wonderful reasons given for the sponsorship........ my children lived for Santa on his sleigh when they were little......... Lamplighters once took my very elderly mum on a day out from her Care Home, for which the family have always been grateful
So people do remember what we do and appreciate it.
The calendar has created a lot of interest locally and over £2,000 has been donated to date Lamplighters have various means by which the public can donate, the latest being by text message, just like Children in Need. How modern is that ?
