On the day before the last lockdown, Congleton Rotary Club realised that with Father Christmas grounded this year, the only way for him to meet the towns children would be online. But if they were to make a Father Christmas video, it had to be done there and then - while a minimum number of members could still gather indoors! So Father Christmas was recruited, movie lights borrowed, a green-screen ironed and by 7.30 that evening Father Christmas was able to record a 2-minute video. Copyright-free music and backgrounds were assembled for the final edit and the video went live on the club website on November 26th.
A PR campaign in the local press and online is driving people to the website where they can view the video free of charge as many times as they like until Christmas Eve, Theres a Virgin Giving button for people to leave a donation if they choose, but the primary purpose is to promote the clubs image and maintain awareness in the town.
The photo is a frame captured form the video which can be seen online at www.congletonrotary.co.uk until Christmas Eve when Father Christmas has to leave for a rather more pressing appointment...
