A RotaKids club was inaugurated at Elworth Hall Primary School, in Sandbach, in September 2017 and is supported by both Sandbach and Sandbach Crosses Rotary Clubs.
The club has been very active since then with members working on a comprehensive range of projects whilst learning new skills and having an enjoyable time. This year has imposed great difficulties on the organisation of activities. The school was closed during the first lockdown and the current restrictions put limitations on the ability of pupils to meet.
But this has not limited the enthusiasm of the RotaKids. This term the club is being run by Year 6 pupils, thus allowing activities to take place without the crossing of social bubbles. At the beginning of term, ShoeAid was chosen as a charity to support and the young people have been collecting shoes at the school and Rtn Eric Cowcill has acted as co-ordinator for the collections by ShoeAid.
Recently, the RotaKids have spent their lunch breaks supporting Children in Need by running a t-shirt design competition. The prize was to have the winning design made into an actual shirt. A total of £74 was raised for Children in Need and the Sandbach Rotary Clubs remotely presented certificates to the winners.
The RotaKids are currently organising regular meetings and planning future projects.
