Wigan Rotary Club are well known throughout the town for accompanying Santa around the streets and to supermarkets during December, but due to current restrictions it has, regrettably, had to put their usual activities with the float on ice.
However, the club have come up with a contact free way for the children still to be able to tell Santa what is on their Christmas list. Via the Wigan Rotary Clubs website, parents will be able to book a meeting for their child or children to sit in their house and link up with Santa in his grotto.
Rotary President Rosemary Charles said We are very disappointed that children will not be able to see Santa come down their street or when they go to the supermarket so we wanted to make sure they could still have a direct line to Santa with a special meeting we hope they will treasure.
Zoom with Santa means they will still be able to see Santa this year in his grotto and have time to chat to him and tell him what they want for Christmas. This is a fully personalised experience and will see Santa having one to one chats with each child from his Lapland grotto and recreate the magic of this festive tradition as best as possible.
The Club are not making a charge for this but they hope everyone will feel able to make a donation which will cover the costs of the event and help us to continue all the work we do in the Wigan community throughout the year.
