Rotary Newton-le-Willows successfully launched its Christmas Shoe Box appeal, asking people to create gifts to send to disadvantaged children, families, and older people in other countries.
Rotarian Alan Pomfret, pictured with some of the filled boxes, said, 'Rotary started the Shoe Box scheme in 1994, and we're proud to be part of the team sending over 50,000 boxes every year to people in Eastern Europe. The boxes are filled with household basics for families including soaps and shampoo, and gifts, clothing, and accessories for children and teenagers. We know from our Rotarian friends in the clubs, distributing them that everyone's delighted to receive them.'
The Club's boxes will be collected and distributed in time for Christmas in countries including Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine.
