Altrincham Rotary light up ALTRINCHAM TOWN HALL in purple4polio END POLIO NOW campaign . The town hall will be lit in purple (children who were vaccinated against polio had a finger dipped in purple dye to signify they had been vaccinated). For the next three nights you can see this.
World Polio Day is 24 October. From millions of people affected each year with this crippling disease now just over 100 people in two countries Pakistan and Afghanistan where vaccinations are ongoing. It will take three clear years before the world can say it is polio free. Rotary and W.H.O. have been working hard since 1985 to rid the world of this disease spending millions of pounds/dollars and weeks/months taking the vaccine to the people. Well done Rotary!!
Also lit up in purple will be Manchester Central (GMEX), Steve Prescott Bridge St Helens and possibly the Three Graces in Liverpool amongst many others worldwide.
