Today, Amina Neumani is a Happy, confident and growing into a lovely young lady - her teachers comment. But that wasnt always the case.
Amina lives in Reeston with her Mom, a dirt poor area of East London, in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. Her Father, a heavy drinker, verbally abused both Amina and her Mother and kicked them out of their home.
Amina was three years old and attending Little Sparklers, part of Hope Educare, where they educate, feed and support children in the East London area. But it was conditional in as much as the parents had to pay school and travel fees. Aminas Mom could no longer afford those fees.
We were advised of Aminas plight by a Rotarian e-mail friend from the Rotary Sunrise club and immediately agreed to pay Aminas fees. Since then the club has pledged to continue to pay her fees until the end of her schooling.
Amina is nearly 10 years old. Her native tongue is Xhosa but she now speaks very good English (mandatory) and loves books and reading. Regularly, we receive update reports on her progress.
