With its regular major fundraiser, the Congleton Bonfire and Fireworks in the Park, cancelled this year, Congleton Rotary has come up with the novel idea of a Guy Fawkes competition.
In previous years primary schools have made Guys to go atop the towns bonfire. Sadly that is not possible so households in the Congleton area are being invited to display their Guy Fawkes at the front of their properties from October 22nd until November 5th, when they can dispose of their creations in the time honoured way!
Entry to the comp costs a fiver, and theres a prize of £50 for the winning Guy. With the prize money sponsored, the only costs to the club are printing a few A4 posters to be displayed in the town.
Its a trial run this year and hopefully, it might raise a few pounds.
The main point is that it is helping to keep the name of Rotary uppermost in the minds of the local population with exposure in the local press and extensively in social media
