At last night's Rushen & Western Mann meeting, our second July face to face, the club has paid tribute to and honoured Gerry Callister with a Paul Harris Fellowship award for his tireless work within our community. Many local people will know Gerry from his role as a Port Erin Commissioner but that is only a small part of the work he does.
Even though Gerry is not a Rotarian his work is recognised throughout the Isle of Man. Well done and a big thank you Gerry
John Lindon, Immediate Past President of our club nominated Gerry Callister and commented
the award of a Paul Harris Fellow is a tribute to a person whose life demonstrates a shared purpose with the objectives of The Rotary Foundation and in Gerry Callister his contribution to our community is exemplary in every way as he gives up his time to emulate our Rotary motto Service above Self.
Gerry volunteers his services seven days a week, involved as a church warden, village commissioner and most importantly as a carer for a friend.
Peace and understanding are ideals held high by Rotarians the world over and one that Gerry clearly shares.
