Very well done to new Tameside Rotarians Julie and Martin Nield who had the great idea to deliver a Dementia Robotic Cat to Kings Park Nursing Home on Kings Road in Ashton under Lyne.
Julie and Martin Nield were made new members over Zoom by President Peter Holden when we held our monthly meeting on 14th April.
The Robotic Cat is sold by an American company and it has shown to provide comfort for people living with dementia. It's a battery powered cuddly toy that purrs, meows and moves. It also responds to touch when its petted and hugged.
During this time of lockdown when some of the residents will be very confused as to why they are not seeing their loved ones, this Robotic Cat will go someway to providing a distraction and comfort.
