Dear Peter

Thank you for all you are doing.

In good times and bad Oldham’s strength has come from its community. I’m so proud to be from a place where people look out for their neighbours and will give up their time or money to help others when they are struggling.

The ongoing COVID-19 crisis has been a huge test for everyone, whether they are self-isolating, caring for friends or relatives, or putting themselves in danger to serve as a key worker.

It has been heart-warming to see people coming out of their homes on a Thursday evening to applaud our NHS, carers and other key workers who have done such a fantastic job in such difficult circumstances. But I’m writing because I don’t want the incredible work of groups like yours to go unrecognised.

Thank you so much for everything you and everyone at the Rotary Club of Chadderton & Failsworth continue to do. Without a doubt, Oldham would be in a far worse situation if it wasn’t for the generosity, spirit and determination we have seen from residents helping those who need it with food, equipment or just a friendly word. It reminds me why we’re lucky to live where we do, and how much we have to build on when the recovery begins.
