Julie has been self- isolating for several weeks as M&S have given Bolton staff over 70 several months of leave. This has given her time to do some baking and on March 26th she made 60 cupcakes which were delivered to her next door neighbours. They took them to Chorley Hospital (where they work) for all the A&E NHS staff who at present are grabbing bites when they can.
She attached a card which said As a senior citizen and having to self- isolate I cannot become an NHS volunteer and help in that way. All I can do is use my skills as a retired Food Technology teacher and offer you all a little something to enjoy with your cup of tea- when you can get a break. To each and everyone of you thank you for what you are doing. Take care of yourselves Julie Larkinson Rotary Club of Eccles.
This is vocational service in action. She would have liked to have supplied cakes to our local hospitals but as she lives near Westhoughton & is at home, she felt that passing them on to her neighbour was the best thing she could do.
The hospital sent her a reply expressing their thanks for the kind thought.
