Stockport Lamplighter haven’t let the grass grow under their feet during this present crisis and have been extremely busy, although the majority have been confined to barracks.

Members still meet each Wednesday evening on Zoom and last week had an entertaining evening taking part in a quiz hosted by member Martyn.

Bernie has started a Whattsapp group which has proved to be very popular with lots of laughs and banter.

President Bill, along with others, has been hard at work on financial matters.

Junior Vice President Charlotte has been out collecting donations of food from Rotarians and their neighbours, which she has then taken to Chelwood Food Bank, one arm of a homeless charity that Lamplighters work closely with called Stockport Loaves and Fishes.

Vice President Barbara is busy sewing Scrubs for Stepping Hill Hospital whilst others have been busy knitting pairs of coloured woollen hearts for the Covid Ward there.

Lamplighters annual Open Gardens day has not been cancelled it has moved in to the modern world with a two hour Zoom session on 17th May !! Working alongside Sustainable Living in the Heatons, people are being invited to join a Zoom meeting where photos of the gardens will be shown plus videos of four of the gardens, followed by an answer and questions session with the gardeners themselves.

Taking one hour, this session will be followed for another hour by SLH talking about Gardening for Wildlife and The Edible Garden. Who’d have ever though it.
