Sandbach Crosses Rotary Club has run a dementia friendly coffee morning on the third Saturday of each month since September 2018. The club tested the water with a trial coffee morning in June 2018 in partnership with Sandbach Methodist Church. After the successful trial, regular coffee mornings started from September 2018.
For each coffee morning, 3 Rotarians supplement the regular Church rota to produce cakes and other delicacies and then serve them up during the coffee morning. Another Rotarian mans an information stand with literature about dementia and gives general guidance and signposting.
Donations to Dementia Friendly Sandbach (DFS) were made at the October 2019 coffee morning by Crosses President Allan Jones (on behalf of both Sandbach Rotary Clubs) (£529) and by Sandbach Methodist Church minister Jeremy Tresise (£300). The Rotary donation was largely raised at a Joint Presidents Night, while the church donation reflected funds raised from the attendance of those living with dementia at the monthly coffee mornings.
