On the 29th September 2019 on a wet afternoon in Prescot the most westerly club in the district Rotary Prescot held their volunteer engagement event V Prescot. This event was inspired by Rotary Great Britain and Irelands Volunteer Expo and clearly the branding chosen was Rotary with a small r.
We invited local community groups to join us in Prescot Town Hall and the local Girl Guides, Youth Club, Gardening Club and Food Back all attended. Headlining the event was Irene and Eric Russell with their Rise Against Hunger stand and display, who came to support our Meal Pack to be held on the 9th February 2020 with Rotary St. Helens.
The event was really very interesting. Were we mobbed by members of the public ? NO but the people that did attend were engaged and interesting in getting involved in our community. One of the key drivers for Rotary Prescot was to establish 4 new routes for our December Santa Float Campaign and on the day we collected enough names and numbers to hold 4 new routes, which I can confirm here have been undertaken and added to our collection total over £1,500 to our normal collection. The power of VOLUNTEERING is very clearly working in Prescot.
We will be holding our 2nd event on the 29th March 2020, so why not pop in and see for yourself!
