At 10.35am on Tuesday 4th February 2020, President Nominee (2021/22) Rotarian Merrilyn Chadwick from the Rotary Club of Rochdale, England, will be climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge to raise funds to End Polio Now.

Merrilyn who is in her 75th year and who has never done anything of this scale before, wants to do her bit to ensure that no children have to suffer from Polio again.

Merrilyn’s target is to raise £1,240 to represent £1 for every mile of the land border between Afghanistan and Pakistan, the only two countries where polio is still endemic. It also closely matches the 1,320 steps of Sydney Harbour Bridge.

The money raised will be matched 2 for 1 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. If Merrilyn can achieve her target, then along with the match-funding, it will allow over 18,500 children to be immunised against polio.

Donations to support Merrilyn can be made online at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/merrilyn-chadwick
