The Rotary Club of Astley has been assisting the Rotary Club of Worsley in the "Wrap Up Manchester" initiative this Autumn.
Collection boxes were placed at the Lancashire Mining Museum at Astley Green and at Leigh Spinners Mill, over a period of several weeks.
Thanks to the generosity of patrons,
the large boxes were filled with donated coats, along with more large bags and boxes. The coats were taken to the Rotary Club of Worsley's store at Worsley this week, for sorting and onward distribution to the homeless, refugees and victims of domestic violence.
Worsley Rotarian Bob Chance was most appreciative of the response and reported that in excess
of 2,000 coats had been donated. This is a magnificent effort and praise is due to all those who donated and helped out with this humanitarian initiative.
