A Sandbach card and gift shop in Sandbach has recently been recognised with a Rotary Certificate of Achievement.
In 2008, the Rotary Club of Sandbach produced a DVD Sandbach: then and now using images from the Minshull archive. It was dedicated to the memory of John Minshull, a long-standing member of Rotary and a keen collector and archivist of a large collection of photographs recording the history of the town.
Over the past 10 years, more than £8,000 has been raised from the sale of the DVD which has been used to support numerous local causes.
Burnells a speciality family business of long-standing in the centre of Sandbach has sold the majority of the DVDs, forfeiting any commission.
President of Sandbach Rotary Club, Rtn Richard Hovey, presented the certificate and said that the Club was immensely grateful for the sustained effort which Burnells had put into selling the DVDs and contributing to the amount raised.
Sarah Ellershaw and Kathy Masters, proprietors, said that they were surprised and delighted to receive the certificate and very pleased to play a part in raising funds for local charities.
